Kent
Sherman - Chief Executive Officer
A seasoned professional in the drug rehab field, Kent has many
years of experience. Kent has successfully managed the operations
of a 50-bed drug rehab program that catered to dual diagnosed
adults in the Tucson area. Kent is an intervention specialist
and family consultant in the area of addictions. Based on his
personal recovery experience and as a graduate of the Gatehouse
predecessor, he speaks with a commitment to our mission, such
that families are provided with hope for the residents recovery.
In his role of CEO, Kent contributes his experience and direction
to the operations process, but his primary focus is on the continued
development of the Gatehouse Academy program. His vision, integrity
and motivation are vital to the organization.
Allison Earl - Chief Financial Officer
Allison
brings an essential mix of personal and business experience to
the Gatehouse team. Allison pursued Business and Communications
at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada and rounded out her
education in the "school of life" as an entrepreneur.
Active in a successful recruitment and management-consulting firm,
working primarily with top life insurers, for over 15 years, her
career led to offshore business creation for overseas multinationals.
Allison's personal recovery journey began in 1985 and continues
to unfold today. Her familial relationship with co-founders Ted
and Gale has had her involved with the organization since its
inception and launch.
Donald
Durham, Ph.D. - Clinical Director - Gatehouse Therapeutic Health
Services
With 19 years of practice, Dr. Don has focused his attention
in two areas - marital and family therapy and addictions - primarily
eating disorders. In 2000 Don joined the Gatehouse team assuming
the position of Clinical Director, having closed his private
practice of five years, in Wickenburg. The directorship carries
the full responsibility of providing professional and clinical
supervision, administrative and developmental leadership to
our growing team of therapists, the creation and delivery the
Gatehouse Family Workshops, as well as an individual counselling
load. Dr. Durham has been involved in the drug rehab treatment
field extensively. Dr. Don is a past clinical director of New
Life Clinics (Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona), spent six years
as the Senior Vice President of Clinical Services for the Remuda
Ranch Center for Anorexia and Bulimia (Wickenburg, Arizona)
and has served as the primary consultant in the development
of a specialized treatment program for eating disorders. As
well, Don held the position of Program Director for the Minerth-Meier
Clinic (Richardson, Texas), directing activities for their eating
disorder program.
Bill
Whitmire, B.S. - Program Director
Bill has worked in alternative school settings for the three years
prior to joining Gatehouse. His experience creating and administering
computer based curricula; the management of computer labs, and
the creation of special education programs are valuable assets
to our community. He has worked as a Special Education consultant
with an emphasis in language and math related learning disabilities.
His roles at Gatehouse are to coach students in the core subject
areas and life skills and develop individualized academic plans.
Additionally, Bill provides training in the effective utilization
of technology to improve instruction and is the campus coordinator
of computer technology. He holds an Arizona Teacher Certification
and Microsoft Office User Specialist Certifications. Bill can
especially relate to our residents as his journey in recovery
began 19 years ago when he himself was a young adult
Dr.
Leslie S. Kaminski, MD - Psychiatrist
Board
certified in Pediatrics (1978), and Psychiatry and Neurology (1993).
Dr. Kaminski began working with Gatehouse and our residents in
February of 2003. She is in regular attendance and is available
on call as required.
Having graduated from the University of Nebraska with her M.D.
in 1972, Dr. Kaminski completed her Pediatric Residency in 1975
and became Board Certified in Pediatrics in 1978. Dr. Kaminski
practiced as a Pediatrician for 12 years in the capacities of:
Staff Pediatrician, Crippled Childrens Hospital in Tempe,
AZ; Pediatrician, Maricopa County Outpatient Clinic; Pediatrician
and Resident Supervisor, Maricopa Country Hospital Clinic. In
1990 Dr. Kaminski completed her Psychiatric Residency (3 years)
at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix, AZ and became board certified
in Psychiatry and Neurology in 1993. Dr. Kaminski has practiced
as a Psychiatrist for the past 13 years in private practice.
Leslie is a kind and caring practitioner who, in addition to her
professional understanding of drug rehab programs and the disease
of addiction, has an incredible empathy with the parents of our
residents. She too, has felt the powerlessness, that parents feel
when confronted with the active disease in their own child. She
too knew that she was unable to arrest it or affect a recovery
with out help. Leslie sought the direction of other professionals
and admitted her daughter to the Gatehouse program in March 2002.
Her daughter is now a graduate and celebrates her sobriety and
recovery.
Jo Ann Bennett, M.S. - Therapist
Jo
Ann Bennett graduated Cum Laude from Iona College after receiving
her Psychology degree from Dowling College in Oakdale, New York.
Her Post-Graduate Study includes work at the Option Institute
in Sheffield, Massachusetts studying The Option Dialogue Process
of non-directive therapy. In addition to her work in private practice,
she has worked at Pilgrim State Hospital in East Islip, New York
and additionally at the world-renowned Childhelp U.S.A. facility
in Wickenburg, Arizona. She possesses a thorough working knowledge
and personal experience of the impact of drug rehab addiction
and substance abuse on the family and the young adult and integrates
this into her therapy. Jo Ann is also a Level 1, EGALA certified,
equine therapist.
Dan D. Sours , M.C. - Therapist
Dan
joined the Gatehouse team in 2003 bringing with him 14 years of
experience in the treatment and counseling of addicted and dual
diagnosed individuals. Dan
possesses a Bachelor of Science Business Administration (BSBA)
degree (1990) as well as a Master of Counseling (1993) degree
both granted from the University of Phoenix . Prior to beginning
his Masters Program, Dan was a Mental Health Tech at Scottsdale
Camelback Hospital in the Chemical Addictions, Child and Adolescents
and in the Sexual Addictions Units. During his internship at the
Salvation Army, Dan began addictions counseling, continuing on
with his client base for several months following the internship
completion. For the past 10 years Dan has worked with the Remuda
Ranch Center for Anorexia & Bulimia 5 years as a Primary
and Family therapist; 2 years as the Assistant Program Director;
and for his last 3 years Dan held the position of Program Director
responsible for all program functions and supervision of 15 Masters
Level Therapists. Dan's
kindness, empathy and commitment to helping our young adults make
him an incredibly vital member of our team.
